Spring 2020 Issue

Spring 2020 Issue
As Chief Copy Editor, I formed a select team of 22 writers from over 60 applicants. I work closely with the writing staff to help them develop their ideas into full articles for publication in our print magazines. I am responsible for editing all print magazine articles as well as writing my own. I schedule and lead weekly team meetings and brainstorming sessions until the final publication is sent to print.
While serving as a General Writer and later a Beauty Writer, I researched and wrote articles for both print and online publications.
My first published article, "Let's Mix Business and Pleasure," was published in the Spring/Summer 2020 Issue. My article highlights how streetwear has evolved into the luxury apparel market. Youthful and experimental, streetwear continues to push the boundaries of high-fashion as well as challenging the idea that fashion trends operate in a "top-down" algorithm.
My Spring/Summer 2021 article, "A Virtual Reality," discusses how legacy beauty brands have failed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. In my article, I describe that while the demise of such brands was accelerated by the pandemic, the true cause was an outdated retail strategy. These traditional brands were left unequipped for a sudden shift to exclusively online shopping.

As an Exhibitor and Sales Representative at AmericasMart Atlanta, I gained experience in visual merchandising, customer service, and retail sales. I am an exhibitor for MinkPink Apparel at Michael & Paula Hyman Showroom. I have also represented D.Stevens Fine Ribbons and ByTogether Apparel.
I work closely with retail buyers to select merchandise for upcoming seasons. I use trend forecasting to assist buyers with choosing apparel that will fit their individual store's needs and appeal to their specific customer.

Student Merchandising Association
Treasurer, April 2021-Present
Public Relations Team, September 2020-April 2021
The University of Georgia Student Merchandising Association is a student organization that works to develop its members into future leaders of the fashion industry. SMA engages in meetings with industry professionals, alumni panels, lookbook productions, and an annual student-led fashion show.
As Treasurer, I am the sole manager of the Association's finances, overseeing and budgeting an account of over $5,000. I handle dues from over 200 members, work with event venues and local businesses, and allocate funds for creative projects and events.
As a member of the Public Relations team, I created social media content to advertise the annual SMA Spring Fashion Show. I also helped promote SMA involvement and events by sharing our promotional material to other student organizations on campus.
